The Trans Am Racing Series is a premier sports car racing series in North America, founded in 1966 by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Known for its thrilling races and iconic muscle cars, the series features a variety of classes, including the powerful TA class and the competitive TA2 class.
The Trans Am Series is renowned for its 850 horsepower TA class cars, which are known for their speed, sound, and pure racing experience, as electronic driver aids are banned. The TA2 class, on the other hand, brings back the "Muscle Car Wars" of the 1960s and 1970s, with cars like the Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, and Ford Mustang competing at around 530 horsepower.
The 2025 Trans Am Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park is set to deliver an adrenaline-pumping weekend of racing from May 23 to 26. Featuring the Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli, fans will witness the raw power of TA and TA2 class machines—American-built V8 beasts thundering around the historic 1.478-mile circuit. The event will also highlight action from XGT, SGT, and GT classes, showcasing high-performance production-based GT cars. The schedule kicks off on Friday, May 23, with practice and qualifying, setting the stage for the heated battles ahead. Saturday, May 24, brings the excitement of TA2 racing, evoking the spirit of classic muscle car wars. Sunday, May 25, shifts gears to a more relaxed celebration with the Royals Car Show and the Connecticut Craft Beer Grand Prix, blending automotive passion with local flavors. Monday, May 26, serves as the grand finale, featuring the Trans Am feature race and International GT competitions, honoring the nation's servicemen and women. More than just racing, the Memorial Day Classic offers a unique mix of thrilling competition, historic significance, and fan-friendly activities, making it an unmissable event for motorsports enthusiasts.
