JR Motorsports LM Driver Ready to Go Racing at Hickory

Connor Mosack has been away from the race track since March when he competed with JR Motorsports with the CARS Tour at Southern National Motorsports Park (NC).  Mosack will be back behind the wheel of the JR Motorsports Late Model Stock Car on Saturday when racing returns to Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) with a live pay-per-view broadcast on Speed51.

Mosack has not raced at all since countless events were canceled and postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, even for a private testing session.   Fortunately, he will be competing at a track where both he and his team have turned plenty of laps.

“I haven’t done any testing or anything.  For sure, I’m ready to get back to it.  Right now, I feel pretty good,” Mosack told Speed51.  “Hopefully we can practice one day before and get comfortable with everything, but Hickory is where I ran all of last year, pretty much.  I’m looking forward to getting back there and seeing how we do with JR Motorsports.”

Last year, Mosack was the Late Model Rookie of the Year at Hickory Motor Speedway, finishing third in the track championship behind Thomas Beane and Chris Hudspeth.

“It’s a tough track, and a lot of the local guys will be the toughest to beat.  A lot of those guys I raced with last year, so I know a lot of those guys.  It’s helpful when you know how to race some people.  As long as we bring a fast car, I think I have enough experience to run with those guys.”

This year, Mosack is teamed up with JR Motorsports, a top team in the Late Model Stock world with a long track record of success at Hickory.  Josh Berry was the 2014 track champion at Hickory, and he has multiple wins in the Fall Brawl and the Bobby Isaac Memorial at Hickory as well.

Other JR Motorsports racers such as Anthony Alfredo and Sam Mayer have also scored marquee wins at the “Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars.”  Alfredo is a former Fall Brawl and CARS Tour winner at Hickory, while Mayer is the defending winner of the Bobby Isaac Memorial.

Having Berry and the JR Motorsports team in his corner gives Mosack a great resource going into the weekend.

“It brings a lot of confidence, being there with Josh.  He’s a great guy to ask questions, especially about that track.  I feel very confident about going up there with them.”

With his own history there and JR Motorsports’ Hickory pedigree, Mosack believes he will be near the front of the field for both 51-lap Late Model Stock features, and hopes he can compete for a win.

“I’m hoping for a shot at a win.  I think we can, especially since we ran well at Southern National and I ran well at the end of the year last year at Hickory.  If a win isn’t there this weekend, I think we can be in the top five most of the night.”

While fans will not be permitted for Saturday’s event at Hickory, they can watch live on Speed51. The pay-per-view broadcast will help the track with expenses for the event.
